Administrative Council provides general oversight of our church's life and ministry. It is concerned with keeping our efforts directed toward our mission, "that all may come to know God through Jesus Christ, be discipled and sent into the world as witnesses of the gospel." At-large member positions are available for one/two/three year terms. Church membership required.
Board of Trustees manages all church properties to assure they are well-maintained, attractive, and in compliance with standards for safety and accessibility. Areas of responsibility are divided between church interior, church exterior, church offices and parsonages.
Finance functions to undergird the ministry of our church through approval and oversight of our budget, interpreting principles of stewardship to our congregation, and conducting an annual financial drive.
Auditors conduct an annual audit of the financial records of the church. They make recommendations to assure we operate in compliance with generally accepted accounting procedures.
Staff Parish Relations is an advocate for the pastors and the staff. This committee also represents the congregation to church staff and the district superintendent as it relates to providing for effective ministry leadership. Church membership is required.
Leadership Committee seeks to provide for the leadership needs of our church. It endeavors to match individual skill sets, availabilities, and passion to specific areas for ministry. Church membership is required.
Education serves our mission by providing a comprehensive program of Christian nurture and discipleship for persons of all ages. Includes Sunday School, youth ministry, outreach VBS, as well as childcare during worship.
Family Life helps us to grow in our relationships with one another through a varied mix of fellowship activities.
Worship & Music endeavors to continually improve our worship experiences. This group's intent is to assure that our worship services are rich, meaningful, and help people connect to God.
Missions/Social Concerns lifts up the needs of the world beyond our doors. This group provides opportunities for mission involvement and support, locally, nationally, and internationally.
Membership Care & Evangelism tends to the personal needs of the congregation through numerous programs of care. Examples include congregational well wish cards, prayer chain ministry meals to help members during unexpected illness or accidents, and shut-in visitation.
McKnight Scholarship Established in memory of Joseph L. McKnight and Bertha Kohler McKnight, this committee approves educational scholarships for deserving members of the Canfield United Methodist Church, with preference being given to seminary students and those preparing for the ministry or alleged religious vocations.
Preschool Board, a self-governing and self-supporting body, oversees all operations of the Canfield United Methodist Church Preschool - serving as an outreach ministry to our community for over 50 years. The group is highly committed to sound decision making and proactive accomplishments in an effort to provide quality care and nurturing for the early learning development of young children.
Permanent Endowment Committee serves to strengthen the present and future financial health of our church through interpreting, promoting, and overseeing planned gifts given to benefit the church in perpetuity.
Youth Council comprised of youth and adults, works with the Associate Pastor to further the youth ministry of Canfield United Methodist Church.
Funeral Dinner Committee plans and provides fellowship meals for families of church members who pass away. Teams are scheduled for 2 month service periods.
Sunday Offering Counters work in teams of two to count and record Sunday morning worship offerings. Teams are assigned on a rotation schedule, a month at a time.
Lay Delegate to Conference represents our church by attending Annual Conference sessions for one week in June of each year. Annual Conference is held at Lakeside Ohio.
