Building Committee Report - We are back in our sanctuary after renovation! Be sure to check out the pictures posted of the renovation progress at sanctuary renovations. Among many changes will be some of the worship elements. We are looking for contributions for these that can take the form of memorial or special gifts. For more information or if you have any questions, please contact a member of the building committee or email building@canfieldmethodist.org.
McKnight Scholarship - forms will be available in the church office on Sunday, April 6, 2008. If you are interested, please stop in the office and pick one up. The completed forms are to be returned to the church office no later than Sunday, May 11, 2008.
CUMC Men's Golf - Golf time is in season once again and we're inviting anyone who is looking for a night out on the course. We meet on Friday's for nine holes with a tee off time of 5:00pm at Mill Creek Golf Course beginning April 18th weather permitting. Our annual party is July 13th at Kensington Golf course beginning at 7:40am then a backyard pool BBQ at the Erickson's immediately following for the entire family. Call Tom Troxil or Jim Erickson with any questions.
New Sunday School Opportunity for 7th and 8th Graders - We will be gathering in the months of April and May! Plan to join us in the Jr. High Room at 9:15 for fun and fellowship. Expect the unexpected!
Challenge of the Chair - The saga of the Chair Challenge continues. If your Sunday School Class has not purchased a chair, it is not too late to do so. This challenge is not limited to Sunday School Classes, it is open to all.
Attention Families - Join other families from the church for an evening of food, playtime, adult discussion and family prayer. Everyone is welcome! We meet from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. We start with a potluck meal, then the children make a craft and play (children ages 2-5 play in the muscle room while older children play upstairs) while the parents have fellowship. The evening ends with a brief family prayer service. We will meet on the following Wednesdays: February 27, March 25, April 23, and May 28.
Mother/Daughter Banquet - Friday, May 9th. It is time for all the ladies - young and not so young to don their favorite hats and enjoy a delicious dinner prepared by Shelley and served by our ever so handsome waiters. Our entertainment for the evening will be a talent show. Whatever talent you possess, please share with us for your enjoyment as well as ours.
Great Big Rally - Sunday, May 18th - 2:00pm -8:00pm - Evangelism Rally - Twelve United Methodist Churches (including ours) will hold an Evangelism Rally at Boardman Park on Route 224 in Boardman. There will be free hotdogs, games for children, praise bands, Christian bands from the area, speakers and more. We will have the opportunity to pass out information about our church and also enjoy fellowship with Methodists from around Youngstown. You may choose to come and go as your schedule allows or to stay for the entire event. Please plan to attend and invite your friends and neighbors. If you would like to be involved in the planning please contact Pastor Jen or Pastor Don.

Ministry Opportunity - Judy Sees is looking to "retire" from the position of Camp Coordinator and is looking for a volunteer to help all this year and to step into the position for 2009. She says, "It's easy and allows an opportunity to help the youth and children of our church." If you're interested, please call the church office or call Judy.
From the Trustees - Following any meetings in the church, upon leaving, please be sure that all atrium and sanctuary doors are closed, lights are turned off, all outside doors are locked. Thank you for your assistance in this matter.
Sunday School Class for Young Adults - Beginning at 9:15am in the old kitchen on the second floor, there will be a Sunday School class for people ages 18 through early/middle thirties. We will study the Bible and relate it to issues that young adults face. This will be a time for us to share and get to know one another. It will meet every Sunday during the Sunday School hour. If you know any young adults please tell them about this opportunity to have fellowship with their peers.
Willing Workers - will meet the 2nd and 4th Wednesdays of the month from 9am-12:00 noon. We will be making rugs to order and also prayer quilts. Order now if there are certain colors you want for next Christmas or for gifts. We have wool, cottons, knit and blue jeans in many colors and you can order the length you want. The end can also be finished with fringe or hemmed. We have a few rugs left from the Bazaar that are for sale all year round. We always need help. Call Jean Stryffeler or Esther Ewing if you are interested in sewing strips together for rugs or sewing squares together for quilts at home.
Youth Group Fundraiser - The Youth Group is selling church t-shirts. They were designed by the youth and all proceeds go toward the next youth mission trip. Each shirt is $10 and there are child sizes available. Shirts can be purchased following both Sunday worship services.
Centennial Cookbooks - are available through the office or on Sunday's between services for $5.00. Each cookbook contains 137 recipes contributed by members of our congregation. Please support the building fund by purchasing one or more cookbooks for family and friends this Christmas season.

Membership Care & Evangelism - Need A Ride Program provides transportation for church members who are unable to drive. If you are in need of transportation, call Kay Love. 24-hour notice is appreciated.
Prayer List: If you would like to request prayers for persons who are ill, grieving, etc., please call Ceil Gill. Prayer Request Cards are available in the pews. Let us remember in our thoughts and prayers the members of our congregation and our friends who may be ill, shut-in, or bereaved.
Altar Flowers - Did you know? That you are permitted to place flowers on the altar in memory or in honor of someone - almost any Sunday through the year??? The cost is $20 for two vases. There are many Sundays open. You may secure a date by calling Sharon Stamp. Then write a check for $20 to Canfield United Methodist Church marked "flowers" and drop it in the offering plate.

Church Tape Ministry - The Church Tape Ministry is a free service offered to any and all members who are unable to attend Sunday worship because of short or long-term illness or other possible restrictions. Cassette tapes of every Sunday worship service throughout the year are recorded and copies are available to those who request them. Call Kay Love for this service. Tapes will be delivered for one week or many weeks. Tape recorders, too, are available where needed. Programs of the service will accompany the tape, and hymnals for hymns are also available.
Ministry Opportunity - There is a need for persons who would be willing to spend a couple of hours on a periodic basis with homebound members. If you have time available during the day, and would be interested in this ministry, please contact the church office.

Pray for Our Military - Pray for persons in the Armed Forces. You can help your church lift up those serving in our Armed Forces. If you have loved ones in the military, we ask you to submit their names to the church office. A picture would be even better. We will collate these and have handouts available for church members to take home.
Placemats - Several ladies from the United Methodist Women have been meeting and making placemats out of all occasion and Christmas cards. If you are going to visit a shut-in and would like to take them a placemat (designed for men, women, or children) and help brighten their day, call Jean Stryffeler.
Greeting Cards - There is a basket in the Church Office for Christmas cards and all greeting cards you no longer have use for. Willing Workers are transforming these into beautiful placemats, etc. which can be used in nursing facilities or in home care. Any further information, please contact Jean Stryffeler.
